Lahore, Pakistan – In a disturbing surge of violence, multiple attacks on police personnel have resulted in the loss of three lives and left four others injured in the city of Lahore.
The series of attacks unfolded in two separate incidents. The first occurred in the Badami Bagh area of Lahore, where a joint intelligence-led raid turned deadly when police were ambushed by suspects. Sub-Inspector Adeel and Head Constable Asad lost their lives during the exchange of gunfire. The motive behind the attack remains unclear, with authorities yet to provide further information on the suspects’ affiliations or the reason for the assault.
Just hours after this incident, a second, and more targeted, attack took place at Yateem Khana Chowk. A team of police officers were deployed at the location to ensure the safety of the headquarters of a banned religious organization. It is alleged that three suspects, affiliated with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), opened fire on the police team stationed at the spot, leading to an intense confrontation. In this incident, four people, including the police personnel and a passer-by, were injured. The perpetrators fled the area in a government vehicle that was commandeered from the scene.
Following this incident, a team of investigators from the Crime Control Department, along with units from the Investigation and Operations wings, were deployed to the area to track down those responsible for the crimes. Authorities were yet to confirm if both attacks were linked, however, Jamaat-ul-Ahrar claimed responsibility for the dual attacks.
The tragic events in Lahore have sent shockwaves throughout the city, with authorities and residents in a state of heightened alert. The security services are intensifying their efforts to identify, apprehend, and bring to justice those who were involved in these crimes.
