The video, which appears to be authentic according to military analysts, shows UCAVs in flight before releasing high explosive ordnance onto targets on the ground. The footage, made public by the PLC’s media wing, has raised concerns about the intensity of the conflict and the possible escalation of hostilities between the two warring factions.
According to reports from the ground, the strikes targeted Ansarallah positions in multiple locations, including areas controlled by the movement’s fighter units and technicals, which are improvised armored vehicles often fitted with heavy machine guns and anti-tank missiles. The PLC has accused Ansarallah fighters of recent attacks on its positions and military convoys.
Experts warn that the increase in UAV usage by the PLC could indicate a shift in the conflict’s trajectory. “The increased employment of drones in this war represents an attempt to level the playing field by compensating for the military’s lack of manpower and conventional military strength,” said Dr. Hadi al-Mashat, a military strategist at the University of Sana’a, who asked not to be identified.
