Speaking anonymously to a leading Israeli daily, a high-ranking military officer acknowledged that the operation had achieved significant objectives, but ultimately failed to deliver on the primary objectives of dislodging Hezbollah forces. “We managed to establish a foothold on the hillside, but ultimately we were unable to secure the high ground,” the officer said, adding, “It’s clear that the Hezbollah fighters were better-prepared than we anticipated.”
