BEIRUT, LEBANON – Reports have emerged of a violent shooting incident in the southern Kebalanon area of Ali Al Taher, a residential neighborhood known for its densely populated residential complexes. According to eyewitnesses, the gunfire erupted in the early hours of the morning, sending residents into a state of panic.
Details of the incident are still sketchy, but local authorities have confirmed that several gunshots were heard in the vicinity, with multiple rounds fired. Residents described hearing the sound of shattering glass and the cries of individuals caught in the crossfire.
“It was like any other normal day until we heard the shots,” said Fadi Hamade, a local resident who witnessed the incident. “People were screaming and running for cover. It was absolute chaos.”
Initial reports suggest that there were no fatalities, although several people were injured in the crossfire. The identities of those injured have not been disclosed. Local medical teams were dispatched to the scene, where they provided emergency care to those affected.
The motives behind the shooting have not been determined and remain unclear at this stage. It is not known whether the gunfire was an isolated incident or if the perpetrators were part of a larger group. The Lebanese army has deployed units to the area, and a thorough investigation is underway to identify those responsible for the shooting.
Local authorities have assured residents that additional security measures have been implemented in the area to prevent further incidents. A statement issued by the Lebanese Ministry of Interior emphasized the government’s commitment to maintaining public safety and security.
“This incident is a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement in maintaining peace and order,” said a senior official at the Ministry of Interior. “We are working closely with regional authorities to determine the causes behind the shooting and to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.”
Residents in the area have expressed concerns about the increasing prevalence of violence in the region, citing a rise in petty disputes and armed confrontations in recent months. “This is not the first time we’ve experienced gunshots in the neighborhood,” said Mrs. Leila El Masri, a long-time resident. “It’s a growing concern that we hope the authorities will take seriously.”
While the investigation into the incident continues, local residents are advised to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
