Romania’s National Airspace Defended After Unauthorised Drone Entry

The Romanian Ministry of Defense has confirmed that their forces intercepted and destroyed an unauthorized drone that entered the country’s national airspace early this morning. The unidentified aerial vehicle (UAV) was detected at 04:44 hours, a short distance north of Galați, a major port city in the southeastern part of the country.

According to official reports, two Spanish F-18 fighter jets had been scrambled in advance as a precautionary measure. After being granted authorization to engage the target by the Romanian authorities, the Spanish pilots successfully intercepted and destroyed the UAV between the localities of Băleni and Cudalbi in Galați County. The area where the incident took place is said to be uninhabited.

This incident is the latest in a series of recent events where Romanian national airspace has been breached without authorization. However, the rapid response and successful completion of the mission by the Romanian military personnel, supported by their Spanish allies, serve as a testament to the country’s preparedness in defending its sovereignty.
