Gridlock Along Dahr al-Baidar Road Causes Frustration Among Lebanese Citizens

Beirut, Lebanon – A rally that has been taking place along the Dahr al-Baidar road for several hours has brought traffic to a standstill, leaving thousands of motorists stranded on their daily commutes. The congestion has sparked frustration among citizens who are calling on authorities to intervene and alleviate the gridlock.

Eyewitnesses report that the rally, believed to be related to a local protest, began earlier in the morning and has continued uninterrupted despite growing traffic congestion. Motorists who attempted to navigate through the area have found themselves stuck in traffic, with some even resorting to using alternative routes in a bid to avoid the congested road.

“Citizens are extremely frustrated with the situation,” said local resident, Ammar Matar. “We understand that protests are a legitimate way to express one’s opinions, but the authorities must take responsibility for ensuring that these protests do not inconvenience the general public.”

Matar, who was forced to abandon his car and seek alternative transportation, emphasized that the need for authorities to step in is becoming increasingly urgent. “The situation has been ongoing for hours, and yet there has been no visible effort by authorities to address the issue,” he added.

In a statement released earlier in the day, the Lebanese Ministry of Public Works and Transportation acknowledged the traffic congestion and assured citizens that officials are working tirelessly to resolve the situation. However, officials have yet to provide a timeline for when traffic will be eased.

The Ministry’s statement noted that efforts are being made to reroute traffic and minimize congestion, but the lack of clear communication has led to widespread confusion and frustration among citizens. “We are doing our best to manage the situation, but we urge citizens to exercise patience and understand that the situation is being addressed,” said an official from the Ministry.

As the gridlock continues, many merchants and business owners along the Dahr al-Baidar road are reporting significant losses due to the reduced foot traffic and lack of access to their establishments. Local residents, meanwhile, are calling on authorities to establish clear guidelines and protocols for handling protests and rallies in order to avoid similar disruptions in the future.

With no end in sight to the gridlock, motorists are advised to exercise caution and seek alternative routes when traveling through the area. The situation is being closely monitored by authorities, and updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
