Bahrain – In the early hours of the day, residents of Bahrain were jolted awake to the sound of explosions as Iranian ballistic missiles pounded the region, sparking widespread panic and alarm.
The blasts, which occurred at approximately 2 a.m. local time, were a follow-up to a weekend missile attack that damaged several key infrastructure sites across the country.
Reports indicate that at least five people have been injured in the attack, with numerous others left shaken by the explosions.
‘We heard a loud boom, followed by several smaller explosions. It was absolute chaos,’ 25-year-old Aisha Al-Khater, a resident of the city of Riffa, told a local journalist.
The Iranian government has yet to claim responsibility for the attacks, but officials in Bahrain have pointed to Tehran as the primary aggressor.
A spokesperson for Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated: ‘[Iran’s] persistent actions are a clear affront to regional stability and a threat to global security.’
The international community has condemned the missile attacks, with the United States, the United Kingdom, and other key regional players expressing solidarity with the people and government of Bahrain.
Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts are under way to de-escalate tensions and find a peaceful resolution to the ongoing conflict between Bahrain and Iran.
As the situation continues to unfold, residents of Bahrain remain on high alert, bracing themselves for further potential attacks from Iranian forces.
