TENSIONS RISE IN THE MIDDLE EAST: ISRAEL LEVY HEAVY BOMBARDMENT ON LEBANON AFTER NORTHERN BORDER CLASHES

Israel has been involved in an all-out war with terrorist groups affiliated with the Iranian regime in Lebanon after several days of escalating border clashes between military forces stationed in the northern region of the country.
According to recent reports issued by Israeli media outlets and verified information circulating from various military sources, this recent flare-up of violence is one of the worst incidents along the Lebanese-Israeli border since the end of the 2006 war, resulting in numerous casualties and extensive devastation.
Eyewitness reports reveal that Israeli military forces launched a series of artillery strikes on areas in southern Lebanon which are predominantly controlled by the Iran-backed Hezbollah militia. Witnesses claim that explosions from the bombardment shook homes for miles, while a massive fire ravaged several residential areas on the outskirts of Beirut.
Details of these reported attacks remain unclear at present, as the situation on the ground remains fluid and chaotic, with military forces from both the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and Hezballah still active in the war-torn areas of northern Lebanon.
While the Israeli military has maintained a policy of strict media silence, a number of sources have confirmed that an Israeli soldier lost his life during a gunfight along the frontier. As tensions continue to grow, Israel has also launched air raids and sent troops into the disputed Golan Heights area which Israel seized from neighbouring Syria during the 1967 conflict.
Lebanon and Israel have no diplomatic relations in place, but there remain deep-seated animosities stemming from numerous violent skirmishes in their shared history and unresolved border disputes which go back decades.
**ISRAEL’S JUSTIFICATION**
Israel claims that its military action has a single objective: to disrupt the operations and logistics of Iranian-backed Hezballah, which is seen by Israel as a major threat. This move has been widely condemned by Iranian officials, including Foreign Minister, Dr. Hossein Amir-Abdollahian who described Israel’s actions as “cowardly” and “unconscionable aggression” aimed at spreading instability throughout the region.
**CONSEQUENCES**
Meanwhile, the escalating crisis has drawn international attention and condemnation from major world powers and regional leaders, including the United Nations General Assembly which has called for an immediate end to the violence.
