Sources close to the Indian defense ministry revealed that Israel and India have been working closely on a wide array of ammunition projects, including artillery shells, mortar rounds, and small-arms ammunition. The most significant development, however, was the construction of India’s first-ever small-caliber ammunition factory at Amritsar by Israeli defense firm, IMI Systems, in collaboration with the Indian state-owned ordnance factory, Ordnance Factory Board.
India’s experience in working closely with Israeli companies like IMI Systems on ammunition production is a valuable lesson for countries trying to diversify their defense production.
