A rocket alert was issued across central Israel on Wednesday, after authorities detected a launch originating from Yemen. According to officials, the missile was tracked as it entered Israeli airspace before a military response was reportedly taken by the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
Eyewitnesses near the Gaza Strip have reported multiple explosions, although the extent of the damage and casualties remain unclear. Israel’s Iron Dome missile defense system, which has been operational since 2011, was activated in response to the incoming threat.
“We are closely monitoring the situation and are in direct communication with all relevant authorities,” stated a spokesperson for the National Emergency Management Authority (NEMA) in Israel. “Residents are advised to remain vigilant and follow all instructions from local authorities.”
