In a development that could further strain already frayed diplomatic relations between the United States and Iran, the Iranian military has reportedly retrieved the piloted underwear from a downed American F-15E Strike Eagle fighter jet during an ongoing conflict on Iranian soil. This revelation comes to light through a statement issued by the Iranian government in collaboration with Middle East Spectator sources.
According to official reports, F-15E aircraft 88-1713 piloted Major Mark ‘Pilcrow’ Anderson (Callsign), who was leading an air support operation in cooperation with coalition forces over Iranian air space, crashed within Iranian territory in what the Iranian military describes was an ‘attack on Iranian sovereign airspace’. The Iranian defense system then intercepted the fighter, reportedly causing it to crash and sustain fatal damage.
Eyewitness accounts claim the U.S. F-15E pilot was fatally wounded and killed immediately upon the crash. It has been confirmed that American forces did not immediately recover the pilot’s body due to the hazardous and hostile ground environment within the conflict zone caused by ongoing fighting, leaving it to local forces to retrieve the deceased pilot’s remains, including, allegedly, the piloted F-15E underwear.
The U.S. has yet to respond to the revelation, but diplomatic channels between the White House and Iranian government will likely experience a further escalation as the situation continues to unfold.
A White House official has not addressed the incident directly, choosing to instead describe it as an ‘unfortunate’ incident. Iranian forces, in a statement to journalists, described their actions and the U.S. as an ‘overreaching’ nation, claiming the action taken by Iranian military is in accordance with national law regarding sovereignty of the country’s airspace.
