Russia’s Vital Oil Infrastructure Suffers Devastating Blow in Novorossiysk Terminal Attack

A coordinated attack on the “Sheshkharis” Oil Terminal in the strategic Russian port of Novorossiysk on April 6, 2026, has left widespread damage and disrupted critical oil exports. According to reports from local authorities and eyewitnesses, multiple strikes were recorded at three locations within the facility, severely compromising operations and threatening economic stability.

Preliminary assessments indicate that the most damaging blow was incurred at Berth No. 1 (44.7034804, 37.8358733), where significant inferno and oil spillage were documented, prompting a massive firefighting response from local authorities. Although the extent of damage is yet to be fully ascertained, experts warn of a substantial financial hit stemming from prolonged closure of this crucial export terminal.

Berth No. 2 (44.7061296, 37.8395406) was also attacked but the scale of damage was reportedly less severe compared to Berth No. 1. However, even partial disruptions will inevitably exert pressure on the operational tempo of Russia’s oil delivery processes.

The third and possibly most telling strike occurred at the SIKN nodes and pipeline system valves (44.7079664, 37.8457369), a critical piece of infrastructure that allows for real-time metering and management of oil flow between export terminals. The SIKN network controls the distribution of crude oil among export terminals, making the simultaneous damage to two key terminals coupled with crippling strikes on this control system a crippling blow indeed.

Russia’s economy is heavily reliant on oil exports for foreign exchange, which, among other critical uses, funds a substantial portion of their ongoing military campaigns. Each idle day results in significant losses in the hundreds of millions of dollars from lost oil export revenue.

Experts and strategists closely monitoring the situation emphasize that an orchestrated attack of this magnitude targeting critical oil terminal infrastructure will have a far-reaching impact on Russia’s military capabilities, and the implications of this should not be underestimated.

Government officials have yet to comment on the scale of the attack or issue official damage assessments. The ongoing operations at the affected installations are being monitored closely, with an official update expected in the coming hours.
