Kyiv, Ukraine – In an unexpected twist on conventional video game modding, a group of Ukrainian drone pilots has taken to customizing Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) to simulate flying scenarios for their First-Person View (FPV) drone training. The modding project, reportedly undertaken by a team of experienced pilots with expertise in military training, aims to create realistic simulations that aid in improving piloting skills in a more cost-effective manner.
The initiative draws on the versatility of GTA V’s modding ecosystem, which enables users to create custom content. The team has leveraged the game’s physics engine and terrain to create a range of challenging environments where drone pilots can hone their skills. These simulations are said to mirror realistic flight conditions, incorporating obstacles such as varied weather patterns, limited visibility, and densely populated urban areas.
Incorporating features like precision flight tracking and real-time feedback, the mod allows pilots to analyze their performance and pinpoint areas for improvement. This advanced feedback mechanism empowers the pilots to refine their skills more efficiently, enhancing overall proficiency and situational awareness.
