BEIRUT, LEBANON – In a recent escalation of military activities in the region, further airstrikes have been reported in the town of Habboush, located in southern Lebanon. Local sources and eyewitnesses claim the strikes, which originated from Israeli military aircraft, have caused significant damage to residential and commercial properties within the area.
Confirming the reports, the Lebanese military issued a statement yesterday, stating that at least three airstrikes occurred between Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, prompting panic among local residents. These events mark a continuation of an ongoing campaign, which has targeted multiple locations across the region since 28 April. The increased tensions between neighboring Lebanon and Israel have created an atmosphere of uncertainty among citizens.
According to available information, Israeli warplanes and helicopters have conducted several sorties over the past few days, resulting in substantial destruction to buildings and public infrastructure. Inhabitants of the besieged town reported hearing multiple explosions throughout the night, accompanied by the sound of gunfire exchanged between Israeli forces and Hizbullah fighters, a militant group that has a strong presence in Lebanon.
“It was a terrifying scene,” stated Hossam Eid, a local resident who was present during the airstrikes. “The blasts shook our entire neighborhood, causing significant property damage and panic among the local population. Our concern is that this will continue, further destabilizing the region.”
A senior official from the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) expressed concerns regarding the current situation, describing the escalating violence as ‘a deeply worrying development.’ “The increasing military activities in southern Lebanon are an infringement on international law and put civilians at risk,” the official stated. “We urge both parties to exercise restraint and work towards resolving these issues through diplomatic means.”
The recent escalation of violence in the Habboush region has sparked outrage among Lebanese citizens, with many calling for an end to foreign interference. As tensions remain high in the region, international attention is focused on Lebanon and Israel, awaiting a response from the warring nations.
