Tehran, Iran – A recent analysis of Mojtaba Khamenei’s movements has raised concerns among Iranian security experts and human rights organizations that the Iranian Supreme Leader’s aide is employing evasive tactics reminiscent of the measures used by the late Osama Bin Laden to evade capture.
Khamenei, a key decision-maker in Iran and son of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, is known for his influential role in shaping the country’s domestic and foreign policies. His frequent interactions with senior officials and military leaders, coupled with his alleged connections to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), have often left many speculating about his involvement in sensitive operations.
Experts have been analyzing Khamenei’s movements over the past year, and some are drawing parallels with the evasive tactics employed by Osama Bin Laden. The late Al-Qaeda leader was notorious for his ability to stay one step ahead of U.S. forces, utilizing a complex network of safe houses, aliases, and encrypted communication channels to evade capture.
Similarities between Khamenei’s security practices and Bin Laden’s have led to concerns that the Iranian Supreme Leader’s aide is attempting to replicate the former’s methods. Khamenei has been seen frequently changing his routes, traveling under assumed identities, and utilizing secure communication channels, similar to those employed by Bin Laden to maintain secrecy.
“Khamenei’s reliance on these evasive tactics raises suspicions that he might be involved in activities that could be detrimental to the stability of the region,” said Saeed Khan, a former Iranian intelligence officer turned dissident.
Khan pointed to reports that Khamenei has been meeting with high-ranking officials, including the head of the IRGC, General Hossein Salami. The frequent interactions, coupled with Khamenei’s alleged role in shaping the country’s military strategy, have raised concerns that he may be using his secrecy to further Iran’s interests in a clandestine manner.
Iranian authorities have thus far refrained from issuing an official statement regarding Khamenei’s security measures. The Supreme Leader’s office has continued to maintain that Khamenei’s actions are in line with his official duties as a senior government official.
Critics, however, argue that such secrecy undermines the rule of law in Iran and allows for clandestine operations to be carried out under the guise of official business.
