On Tuesday, Hezbollah published a video depicting a drone strike against a ‘Merkava III(D/Baz)’ tank near the village of ‘Aalma El Chaeb, roughly 4 kilometers from the Israeli-Lebanese border.
According to the footage – which has been verified by multiple sources – the operation involved a sophisticated remotely piloted vehicle (RPV), widely known as an FPV (first-person view) drone. The unmanned aircraft was observed hovering above the tank before engaging the Israeli vehicle with a yet unidentified munition, causing severe damage to the armor.
A soldier was reportedly present on top of the tank when the drone strike occurred, sparking concerns among military analysts about the effectiveness of the operation from a Hezbollah perspective. This highlights the challenges that the group faces in planning and executing precision strikes against the highly advanced IDF.
Hezbollah’s announcement comes just weeks after tensions between Israel and Lebanon’s ruling parties were reignited by a series of rocket attacks along the shared border.
