Beirut, Lebanon – In a strongly worded message addressed to Iranian seminary director Ayatollah Ali Reza Arafi, Hezbollah Secretary General Naim Qassem has denounced the Israeli aggression in the region, citing an urgent need for international acknowledgment and condemnation.
At the center of Hezbollah’s denunciation is the ongoing “Battle of the Devouring Storm,” which was launched by Israeli forces on March 2, in a brazen disregard for the fragile stability of Lebanon. The Israeli military operation has led to the deaths of innocent civilians and Hezbollah combatants alike.
The Hezbollah Secretary General’s message underscored the determination of the party to resist the Israeli occupation, asserting that the enemy will ultimately be forced to retreat in the face of unyielding resistance. Qassem further emphasized that the international community has a responsibility to intervene and curb Israel’s aggression, citing the “international silence and Western complicity” for emboldening Israel’s militaristic actions.
Qassem specifically alluded to the recent martyrdom of senior Hezbollah commanders in September 2024, as well as a possible attempted assassination, highlighting the relentless nature of Israeli aggression. Despite these setbacks, the Secretary General reaffirmed Hezbollah’s unwavering resolve to confront the Israeli occupation.
The message also underscored the historical and ongoing support provided by Iran to the Lebanese resistance. Qassem emphasized that Iran’s commitment to the axis of resistance has enabled the liberation of south Lebanon in 2000 and strengthened the ability to resist repeated Israeli operations. This support has also fueled the resistance against Israel’s military actions and the ongoing U.S.-Israeli campaign aimed at undermining Iran and the resistance.
As tensions continue to rise in the region, Qassem expressed his confidence in the triumph of Iran and its people in the face of an escalating American-Israeli campaign. He reiterated that the resilience of the Iranian leadership, armed forces, scholars, and people will ultimately achieve victory against the enemies of the region.
The message serves as a reminder that, for Hezbollah, the struggle against Israel remains a pivotal part of its mission. As Qassem and his allies navigate this treacherous landscape, the stakes have been raised, and the international community’s silence has become increasingly conspicuous.
With the ongoing conflict having significant implications for regional stability and global dynamics, international actors may need to reevaluate their responses to the evolving conflict in Lebanon.
