Beirut, Lebanon – Israeli warplanes conducted airstrikes on Al-Halloussiyah and Hadatha in southern Lebanon on late Tuesday night. The strikes caused significant damage, but no casualties have been officially reported.
According to local authorities, Israeli jets flew over the skies of southern Lebanon just before midnight, launching missiles at strategic locations in the area. Al-Halloussiyah and Hadatha are small villages located near the Blue Line, which marks the border between Lebanon and Israel.
Eyewitness accounts indicate that the airstrikes targeted several Hezbollah-controlled military sites and what appears to be a storage facility for advanced rocket systems. Residents in the surrounding areas described hearing the sound of explosions and seeing flashes of light illuminating the night sky.
“It was like a war zone,” said a resident of Al-Halloussiyah, who wished to remain anonymous. “We could hear the jets flying over our village, and then there were massive explosions. We’re all traumatized, and no one knows what will happen next.”
The Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) have been deployed to the area to maintain order and secure the borders. Meanwhile, Prime Minister Najib Mikati has called an emergency meeting with top security officials to discuss the implications of the strikes and the potential consequences for regional stability.
“This aggressive move is a clear threat to Lebanon’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” said Mikati in a statement. “We will do our utmost to preserve peace and stability in the region, but at the same time protect our people’s rights and interests.”
The airstrikes come amid heightened tensions between Israel and Lebanon, particularly in regards to the presence of Hezbollah along the Blue Line. Lebanon has maintained that it will not permit any military activities or the presence of armed groups near the borders, while Israel has accused Hezbollah of planning attacks and building infrastructure to launch rockets into its territory.
Lebanon has also lodged a formal complaint with the United Nations Security Council, which is currently investigating the incident.
The international community is closely monitoring the situation and urging restraint on all parties involved. European diplomats have expressed concern over the rising tensions and urged both Israel and Lebanon to work towards a peaceful resolution.
As the situation continues to unfold, regional leaders are bracing for a potential escalation, which could have significant consequences for regional stability and global security.
