A 26-year-old man from Texas has been charged with a third-degree felony count for making terroristic threats against a leading conservative organization, Turning Point USA (TPUSA). Authorities accuse Jacob Wenske of writing a disturbing series of online posts and emails, which included menacing statements against event organizers and attendees.
According to a report by Fox News, Wenske allegedly made the threats in response to an upcoming TPUSA event scheduled to take place in San Antonio. The events had not been finalized but had been announced, which prompted Wenske to claim he knew “exactly where to bomb” the location.
As the situation escalated, Wenske, in an email, threatened violence against Erika Kirk – the Director of External Affairs at Turning Point USA and several speakers at an upcoming TPUSA event. The email further stated that he would bomb not only the current event but “every single Turning Point rally and event.” The emails prompted law enforcement action, with agents from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and local authorities tracking and monitoring Wenske for a series of months.
The alleged threats prompted law enforcement to issue a warning to the public. Authorities stated they were taking the threats seriously, stating the safety of everyone is their top priority. Local and federal law enforcement are working together to ensure the community is secure.
A spokesperson for Turning Point USA stated that the organization values free speech and the protection of its members but also stated they will work with law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety and security of its members and event attendees.
Jacob Wenske has now been booked into jail and is facing charges of making a terroristic threat. His trial is not yet scheduled. The full extent of the charges is yet to be disclosed.
