Iran Slams Gulf Countries for ‘Aggression’ and ‘Destructive Arms Race’

Tehran, Iran – The Iranian Foreign Ministry has launched a scathing attack on the country’s southern neighbors, accusing them of violating the principles of good neighborliness and international law by engaging in aggression against Iran and allowing their territories to be used against it.

In a statement released by Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei, Iran expressed its disappointment and frustration at the failure of its southern neighbors to uphold their obligations as neighbors and to respect the rules of international law. The statement criticized the Persian Gulf countries, particularly Saudi Arabia, for their role in the ongoing conflict in the region and for their willingness to allow their territories to be used against Iran.

“We ask, why do they themselves engage in aggression against their Muslim neighbor in violation of the principle of good neighborliness and the fundamental rules of international law?” Baghaei said. “And why do they allow their territories to be used against Iran or to launch missiles from them? Why do they turn a blind eye to the destructive arms race, and to the purchase and stockpiling of hundreds of billions of dollars’ worth of various types of advanced weapons for which there is no defensive justification?”

Baghaei’s comments come at a time when tensions between Iran and its southern neighbors have been escalating, particularly following a missile strike launched by Iran in response to what it said was a US drone attack on an Iranian convoy in Syria. The Iranian Foreign Ministry has accused Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states of supporting the US-backed regime in Baghdad and of providing it with advanced military hardware.

Iran has also expressed its frustration with the international community’s failure to take action against Israel’s nuclear program, which it says is not subject to effective supervision. “Why do they remain silent regarding the Israeli nuclear arsenal, which lies outside the scope of any international oversight?” Baghaei asked.

Iran has long accused the United States and its allies of waging a “hybrid war” against it, using proxy forces and sophisticated military hardware to undermine the Iranian government and economy. The country has repeatedly called on its southern neighbors to respect the principles of good neighborliness and to refrain from allowing their territories to be used against it.

The Iranian Foreign Ministry’s statement has sparked a furious reaction in the region, with Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states condemning Iran’s aggression and calling on the international community to take action against it. However, Iran has maintained that it will continue to defend itself against any threats, whether from within or without, and will not be intimidated by the “aggression” of its southern neighbors.

As the situation continues to unfold, the question remains whether Iran’s southern neighbors will be held accountable for their actions and whether the international community will take effective measures to prevent further conflict in the region.
