Lebanon’s southern town of Nabatieh is reeling from a series of aerial attacks carried out by drones in the early hours of the morning. According to reports, additional drones struck the town, causing widespread panic and damage.
Eyewitnesses described the scene as “chaotic” and “terrifying.” The drones targeted several areas, including residential buildings and marketplaces. Authorities have confirmed at least five people were injured in the attacks, although no fatalities have been reported.
The attacks are believed to be linked to a larger conflict between Iran-backed militant groups and Israeli forces along the Lebanon-Israel border. This is the second time in 24 hours that Nabatieh has come under drone strikes. Yesterday, Israeli drones bombed several sites in the town, prompting Lebanese officials to condemn the attacks as a “gross violation of Lebanon’s sovereignty.”
The Lebanese army has deployed troops to the region to maintain order and prevent any escalation. The UN Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) has also increased its presence in the area, urging calm and restraint from all parties involved.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) has declined to comment on the attacks, but Israeli officials have hinted at a possible connection between the drones and Iranian-backed militant groups operating in Lebanon.
Nabatieh’s residents have expressed outrage and frustration over the repeated drone strikes. The town, which is located just a few kilometers from the Lebanon-Israel border, has been a target of aerial attacks in the past.
“This is not the first time we’ve been affected by these attacks, and it’s becoming increasingly clear that we’re caught in the middle of a larger conflict,” said a resident, who wished to remain anonymous out of fear of reprisal. “We just want peace and stability, but it seems like we’re being dragged into the conflict against our will.”
As the situation in Nabatieh remains tense, officials from both Lebanon and Israel have called for a peaceful resolution to the conflict. The international community is closely monitoring the situation and has urged restraint from all parties involved.
The attack on Nabatieh comes as Lebanon is already facing numerous challenges, including a severe economic crisis and a deepening divide between rival factions in the government. The drone strikes have sparked widespread condemnation and calls for action from Lebanese officials, who say they will not tolerate any further aggression against the country’s sovereignty.
As the situation continues to unfold, one thing is clear: Nabatieh is a small town caught in the midst of a much larger conflict, and its residents are paying the price for the aggression of external forces.
