Ukraine Continues Counter-Offensive Efforts in Occupied Territories, Disrupting Critical Energy Infrastructure

In a significant escalation of Ukraine’s counter-offensive efforts, Ukrainian forces have successfully disabled 12 electrical substations and one gas distribution station in the occupied territories of Crimea, Donetsk, and Luhansk regions over a 48-hour period. According to reports, the coordinated attacks targeted critical energy infrastructure, disrupting the main power grid and energy supply lines to these areas.

Among the substation targets was the 35 kV Ozernensky substation in Kar’yerne settlement, the 110 kV Rodnikove substation in Arkadyivka settlement, and the 220 kV Donuzlav substation in Krylovka settlement, all within the Crimean Autonomous Republic. In the Donetsk region, the Starobeshevskaya TPP substation in Noviy Svit settlement was also crippled.

In addition to the substation attacks, Ukrainian forces targeted a fuel storage facility in Melitopol settlement, Zaporizhia region, and a gas distribution station in Aidar settlement, Luhansk region. Furthermore, the 330 kV West Crimean substation in Kar’yerne settlement was put out of commission, dealing a significant blow to Crimea’s energy supply.

These coordinated attacks mark a significant escalation of Ukraine’s counter-offensive efforts, aimed at weakening the Russian occupation and restoring control over critical infrastructure. By targeting energy infrastructure, Ukraine’s military is attempting to cripple the occupation’s ability to function, creating an environment conducive to a potential Ukrainian counterattack.

“It’s a bold move, but it’s necessary,” said a Ukrainian military official, speaking on condition of anonymity. “Russia has been using these installations to supply the occupied territories with energy, and by disabling them, we’re denying them the resources they need to maintain control.”

The attacks have also sparked concerns about the potential for widespread power outages and disruptions to essential services in the occupied territories. “This could have serious humanitarian implications,” said a spokesperson for the International Committee of the Red Cross. “We call upon all parties to ensure that essential services, including power and water, remain functional in these areas.”

As the conflict in Ukraine continues to escalate, these attacks demonstrate the escalating nature of Ukraine’s counter-offensive efforts and the military’s determination to reclaim control over the occupied territories.
