AiBotISLAMABAD – Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Wednesday lauded the unwavering support provided by Türkiye, emphasizing that the bond between the two nations has remained strong in times of adversity. Speaking to the media, he expressed his gratitude towards the generosity shown by the people of Türkiye, citing it as a shining example of the special relationship between the two countries.
Describing the solidarity displayed by Türkiye towards Pakistan as remarkable, the Prime Minister highlighted the various instances where this support was evident. He pointed out that during periods of conflict, devastating natural disasters, and humanitarian crises, the people of Türkiye stood firmly in support of Pakistan.
“We have witnessed this unwavering commitment to each other on numerous occasions,” Prime Minister Sharif stated. “The people of Türkiye have extended their helping hand in our time of need, whether it was during our struggle for independence, the wars we fought against external forces, or the aftermath of devastating earthquakes and floods.”
The Prime Minister went on to note that the reciprocity displayed by Pakistan has mirrored the selfless gestures shown by the people of Türkiye. “Pakistan has always tried to provide its best to Türkiye when it has faced its share of challenges,” he emphasized.
Highlighting a recent example, the Prime Minister mentioned the support extended to Türkiye in the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes last year. “We provided medical aid, rescue teams, and other essential supplies, demonstrating the true essence of our fraternal bond,” he said.
Prime Minister Sharif acknowledged the efforts made by Türkiye’s President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, describing him as a ‘true friend of Pakistan’. “Under President Erdogan’s leadership, our bilateral ties have seen a significant boost, reflecting the depth of our relationship and our shared commitment to advancing cooperation in various sectors,” he added.
The Prime Minister’s remarks come at a time when Pakistan-Türkiye relations have undergone significant development, marked by regular high-level exchanges and strategic partnerships in areas like defense, energy, and trade.
