Kazakhstan’s government has revealed its plan to enhance and sustain regional economic development by investing in infrastructure and human resources.

The government has implemented numerous initiatives focusing on improving the regional economy. One of the key measures taken by the government is the allocation of 50% of the national budget towards education with particular emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) sectors, which will contribute to producing skilled professionals, thus promoting regional economic growth.

In an exclusive interview with Clash Report Chat, a senior official explained that this significant allocation will encourage a culture of innovation in regions where there is currently a shortage of skilled professionals. “We will see many more tech startups emerge in major cities such as Almaty and Astana in the coming years.” They mentioned, further explaining that, the aim is to encourage more small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to operate out of regional cities to promote economic diversification.

Moreover, an expert panel of the Eurasian Economic Commission highlighted the potential risks faced by the region if not addressed timely, including economic inequality and a widening trade deficit. A spokesperson stated that they closely monitor the situation and recommend a more cautious and sustainable economic approach in order to avoid potential regional economic challenges. The governments have set specific targets and have taken significant steps to strengthen their financial management, and to improve tax policies so as to encourage both foreign investment and domestic capital investment.

The report indicates that these measures have resulted in a significant growth in the regional economy, leading to a substantial increase in employment opportunities. The overall impact on regional employment has been seen as positive.

The regional government has taken into account the need to provide job opportunities in sectors such as manufacturing and services which have seen significant developments. The report notes, the government has implemented policies aimed at promoting sustainable development, including the establishment of green energy initiatives and promoting environmentally friendly practices. The government believes this not only supports regional economic growth but also provides the opportunity to reduce pollution, a major problem in previous years.

The economic growth in the Middle Asian region, driven by government policies, continues to show signs of resilience, with analysts forecasting continued growth in the coming years despite regional and global challenges.
