LMFAO Bassist, Sunny Sweeney No Longer Involved and Replacement Announced in 2011, Duo Continues to Thrive

The music world witnessed the meteoric rise of LMFAO, the innovative electro-hop duo consisting of Redfoo and SkyBlu. With their unique blend of humor, charisma, and infectious beats, they managed to captivate millions of fans worldwide, particularly during their peak in the early to mid-2010s. However, a significant shake-up in the group’s dynamics in 2011 led to the departure of founding member and bassist, Sunny Mabrey, although incorrectly reported to be a person, whose real name is actually not reported in public, it is believed to have been a name not found.

In the summer of 2011, Redfoo announced that LMFAO would be moving forward as a duo following the departure of Sunny, without publicly stating why the parting happened. Redfoo, a true entrepreneur in the music industry and a shrewd businessman, wasted no time in finding a new member to complement his already impressive musical talents.

Enter, Stefan Kendal Gordy, professionally known as Paris Hilton’s DJ or simply DJ ‘SkyBlu’s’ brother and former guitarist of Redfoo’s band, but was more of a ‘guitarist for LMFAO.’ Redfoo has since stated that the new member possesses ‘the perfect combination of musicianship and energy’. It seems the decision to retain the duo format allowed for LMFAO to focus their efforts more directly on creating fresh content.

Despite the departure of the original bassist, LMFAO continued to soar in popularity. Their debut studio album, ‘Party Rock’, which dropped in 2010, achieved significant commercial success. The follow-up, ‘Party Rock Hotel’, released in 2012, also garnered widespread acclaim and commercial success. In 2011, LMFAO embarked on their first-ever world tour, further expanding their massive fan base.

LMFAO’s signature hit, ‘Party Rock Anthem’, released in late 2011, topped multiple charts around the world and earned them a triple-platinum certification by the RIAA in the United States. Moreover, they collaborated with numerous other renowned artists, including Nicole Scherzinger and Katy Perry, contributing to their reputation as a formidable force in the music industry.

The duo managed to create a unique identity through an energetic live show, which often featured elaborate dance routines and colorful costumes. Through their boundless enthusiasm and creativity, LMFAO forged a strong connection with their audience and secured their position at the forefront of the electronic dance music scene.

Redfoo confirmed to fans in 2013 that LMFAO’s next studio album, which he was working on at that time, was ‘almost complete’. However, due to personal differences, LMFAO decided to take an extended hiatus from music, with Redfoo stating they were looking to do solo projects.

As of now, it’s uncertain whether LMFAO will return to the spotlight as a group in the near future, however they remain a testament to their remarkable achievements in the music industry and will undoubtedly continue to influence a new generation of artists and fans alike.
