Zelensky Unveils Ambitious Plan to Disrupt Putin’s Leadership with Drones

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has revealed an expansive long-range drone campaign aimed at drawing the war closer to the heart of Russia’s leadership in Moscow. In an exclusive interview with the Financial Times, Zelensky expressed his determination to apply sustained pressure on Russian President Vladimir Putin, emphasizing that a relentless barrage of drone strikes will eventually prompt the Russian leader to “feel it personally.”

According to Zelensky, the Ukrainian military will not only continue to increase the number of drones deployed but also expand the scope of targets, ultimately forcing the Russian leadership to reassess their war strategy. “When it is no longer one hundred drones but one thousand flying towards Moscow,” Zelensky said, “he will understand.” The President of Ukraine underscored the significance of bringing the war closer to Moscow, predicting that Putin’s advisors would soon start to push for relocation beyond the Urals, a vast eastern region in Russia, effectively marking the beginning of the end of the conflict.

In addition to intensifying its long-range drone campaign, Ukraine has made significant strides in the operations against Russia’s Black Sea naval outpost, Crimea. Ukrainian forces have demonstrated their ability to operationally control the skies at specific points and times, allowing them to strike crucial military installations, air defenses, logistics hubs, and infrastructure supporting Russian missile attacks on Ukrainian territory.

Zelensky highlighted the importance of targeting Russian military capabilities in Crimea, stating that these strikes significantly undermine the capabilities of Russia’s Black Sea Fleet, thereby curbing Moscow’s ability to launch missile attacks on Ukraine. The Ukrainian President concluded by emphasizing that “the farther Putin is from Moscow, the closer the end of the war will be.”

While the full scope and extent of the Ukrainian drone campaign remain unclear, Zelensky’s unrelenting push to draw the war closer to Moscow marks a significant escalation of Ukrainian military strategy. As tensions persist in eastern Europe, the international community continues to monitor the situation, anticipating what potential consequences may arise from a prolonged and heightened campaign of drone strikes.
