Kuwait City, Kuwait – In a statement released by the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy, several electricity transmission lines in the country have gone out of service, resulting in power outages across multiple areas.
The ministry reported that emergency teams have swiftly activated the national response plan to address the disruption and work towards restoring electricity as quickly as possible. As a result, residents in affected regions are advised to remain calm and follow official instructions from local authorities.
According to eyewitnesses, the power outages were most pronounced in areas of Ahmadi, Jahra, and Mubarak Al Kabeer governorates, with many residents taking to social media to express their frustration with the sudden loss of electricity.
“I was on my way to work when I saw people gathered around streetlights, trying to light their homes,” said resident Fatima Jassim. “I was lucky to have had a spare battery with me, but it’s clear that many others are not as fortunate.”
The ministry has not yet specified the cause of the power outage, but investigators are working closely with technicians from the Kuwait Electricity and Water Authority (KEWA) to identify the root cause of the problem.
“Once the cause is established, we will work diligently to correct it and restore electricity to affected areas as quickly as possible,” said a spokesperson for the Ministry of Electricity, Water and Renewable Energy. “In the meantime, residents are advised to follow official instructions and adhere to established protocols for emergency situations.”
As part of its response plan, the ministry has mobilized additional personnel and resources to support restoration efforts. Emergency response teams are also being deployed to ensure that critical infrastructure, such as hospitals and public services, are maintained during the outage.
While the full extent of the power outage remains unclear, Kuwaiti authorities have assured residents that all necessary precautions are being taken to ensure public safety and minimize disruptions.
Residents are advised to check official government channels for updates on the power outage and restoration efforts. In the meantime, it is essential that people exercise caution when attempting to use alternative lighting sources, and that those in need of assistance contact local emergency services.
