“CENTCOM Launches Precision Strikes Against Iran Following Strait of Hormuz Attacks”

U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) forces have successfully completed a round of targeted strikes against key Iranian infrastructure and military assets, further underscoring Washington’s commitment to maintaining freedom of navigation in the sensitive Strait of Hormuz. As of July 7, CENTCOM reported the completion of strikes against over 80 designated targets throughout Iran, emphasizing the U.S.’s swift response to the nation’s recent escalation of maritime aggression.

According to CENTCOM, the precision munitions employed during the operation hit key Iranian air defense systems, command and control networks, coastal radar sites, and anti-ship missile capabilities, all instrumental in facilitating the country’s maritime operations. In addition to these strategic objectives, the strikes also focused on neutralizing over 60 Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) small boats operating in or near the Strait of Hormuz.

The U.S.-initiated strikes served as a direct response to Iranian attacks on commercial vessels transiting the key waterway, including a Marshall Islands-flagged tanker, the M/T Al Rekayyat, and vessels under the flags of Saudi Arabia and Liberia, M/T Wedyan and M/T Cyprus Prosperity, respectively. CENTCOM condemned the aggression as a brazen and unwarranted affront to international maritime regulations and security protocols.

While Tehran has consistently asserted its commitment to maintaining the 2015 Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), the recent attacks on commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz have created significant tensions between Iran and the global community. Iran’s actions are perceived as a flagrant contravention of the ceasefire and demonstrate the nation’s propensity for employing destabilizing tactics in pursuit of its strategic objectives.

CENTCOM emphasized that its forces remain postured and prepared to intervene decisively in the region should Tehran fail to adhere to security norms and uphold agreements in place to ensure the safe passage of international maritime traffic through the Strait of Hormuz. As the global maritime community closely watches Iran’s actions, CENTCOM’s decisive show of force has served as a clear warning that the United States will not tolerate any form of aggression that imperils regional stability or disrupts the free flow of international commerce.
