According to eyewitnesses and reports from the Ground, the turnout for the funeral procession of Ayatollah Khamenei is believed to be in millions, one of the largest in recent history. Iraq’s Shia-led government issued warnings to avoid any potential security breaches by ensuring the presence of adequate security and law enforcement forces to ensure a smooth process.
The Ayatollah’s funeral procession was attended by hundreds of Iraq’s top Shia Clerics, Politicians and prominent figures who flew into Najaf from multiple destinations to join the mourners in paying their respects. The funeral ceremony was carried out under tight security, ensuring that attendees were allowed to gather peacefully and in a peaceful atmosphere.
According to reports Ayatollah Khamenei will be laid to rest in Najaf alongside the graves of other influential Shia figures such as Ali ibn Abi Talib and other notable Shia saints.
