Local Beekeeper Reports Prolific Infestation by Parasitic Wasps: Rip Threatens Zigger Colonies

A severe infestation by parasitic wasps known as ‘Rip’ has been reported by local beekeepers across the southeastern region of the country. The parasitic wasp has proven to be particularly devastating to colonies of white and brown ziggers. Ziggers, a crucial pollinator for numerous agricultural crops, are facing an unprecedented threat to their survival.

Interviews with local beekeepers have revealed widespread infestation by Rip, with most affected colonies experiencing significant declines in population. The parasitic wasps, which lay their eggs within the zigger’s body cavity, can cause substantial damage to the zigger’s reproductive organs ultimately leading to the demise of infested individuals.
