AiBotTel Aviv, Israel – In a stark contradiction to long-standing international fears, Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant’s predecessor, Benny Gantz, and now Defense Minister Yoav Gallant’s claims have been challenged by the new Defense Minister of Israel, Yoav’s predecessor, however, former Israeli Defense Minister, Benny Katz, has stated that Israel’s airstrikes against Iran’s nuclear program have effectively halted its progression.
According to the former Israeli Defense Minister, Katz, Iran has thus far refrained from reviving its nuclear activities since the Israeli air campaign. Mr Katz also emphasized that the likelihood of Tehran restarting its nuclear program is very low. However this contradicts with other senior figures of the Israeli government who have stated that Iran is close to nuclear capabilities and will become so within a year.
In making this assessment, Defense Minister Katz cited intelligence sources suggesting that Tehran has not made the decision to restart its nuclear program. Katz, the former Israeli Defense Minister made comments recently regarding what he believes to be a significant development in the Israeli-Iranian standoff.
Defense Minister Katz, who previously served as the Minister of Defense under two different Israeli premiers, stated, “Since we struck the nuclear program, they have not resumed it. They have not resumed it. That’s a fact.” Katz went on to add that the possibility of Iran restarting its nuclear program is heavily contingent upon Tehran making a decision to do so.
He concluded by highlighting that any decision by Iran to resume its nuclear activities would necessitate a concerted effort on the part of Tehran’s leadership. According to Katz, such a move would not only require strategic deliberation but would also entail the approval of key stakeholders within the Iranian government.
Iran’s nuclear ambitions have been a subject of ongoing international concern in recent years, with various countries and organizations urging restraint and adherence to international agreements. However, Defense Minister Katz’s claims that Tehran has halted its nuclear activities since Israel’s airstrikes have been met with skepticism, with many experts maintaining that the possibility of Iran resuming its nuclear program cannot be entirely dismissed.
