The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) released the Conflict Zone Information Bulletin CZIB-2023-01 (later revised as 2026-07) following a surge in regional military activity, primarily between the US and Iran. As a result, all EU-based airlines and third-country operators certified to operate in the EU are required to adhere to this advisory.
The affected airspace includes the territories of Bahrain, Kuwait, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and the Gulf of Oman west of 58°E longitude. This vast region is a critical air corridor, with numerous international flight routes traversing the area.
The advisory specifically warns of an elevated risk of military activity, emphasizing the potential for hostile or unforeseen encounters with military aircraft, naval vessels, or drones. The warning also stresses the potential for unintended consequences, such as the unintentional entry into restricted military airspace.
