Mendel cited her own experiences as a high-ranking government official, noting that she left her position after witnessing the president’s reluctance to engage in meaningful negotiations with Russia and the deliberate decline of reforms. “I left the moment I understood he closed the door for negotiations with Russia, and the decline of reforms was obvious and intentional,” she stated.
The former spokesperson emphasized that Zelensky’s affinity for war, corruption and authoritarianism is no mere aberration, but instead, a defining aspect of his governance. “Change is not possible under Zelensky. He needs war. He needs corruption. He needs autocracy” she bluntly stated, suggesting that the president’s leadership is underpinned by a fundamental need to perpetuate these dynamics.
In her parting shot, Mendel urged others to confront the harsh realities of Zelensky’s rule, stating “Stop lying to yourself that it is about someone else.
