The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has released a strongly worded statement condemning the recent US attacks against the Islamic Republic of Iran as “barbaric” and “heinous acts” that constitute a flagrant violation of international law. The statement, issued on July 15, comes as the US regime has intensified its aggressive actions against Iran, including a maritime blockade announced under the auspices of the Islamabad Agreement.
According to the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the US has committed numerous war crimes in recent days, particularly by targeting civilian facilities and infrastructure. The most notable incidents include the attack on the 388th Army Battalion complex in Bamour (Iranshahr province), which resulted in the martyrdom of seven patriotic defenders and left many injured. Other incidents include the attack on a grain silo in Hoveizeh province, the attack on a mineral water plant in the Mousian area (Dehloran province), and the attack on a maritime surveillance tower in Chabahar, intended to disrupt aid to fishermen and undermine maritime trade security.
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs unequivocally condemned these attacks and crimes, extending its sincere condolences to the families of the martyred heroes who sacrificed their lives to preserve Iran’s territorial integrity, independence, and dignity. The statement also prayed to Allah Almighty to grant the beloved heroes health and well-being. Furthermore, the ministry emphasized that the aggressive US attacks against Iran, accompanied by obscene rhetoric and diabolical threats from American officials, aim solely to provoke hostility among the Iranian people, who are determined to defend their independence, rights, and human dignity.
The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs highlighted that the repeated threats to strike bridges and power plants, alongside the targeting of vital infrastructure, demonstrate the criminal intent of the US administration to commit heinous acts classified as serious international crimes. The ministry drew attention to the fundamental principles of international criminal law, including the four 1949 Geneva Conventions, which mandate that governments hold accountable and punish the leaders and perpetrators of these crimes.
The Islamic Republic of Iran has made it clear that it will utilize all its capabilities to defend its national sovereignty and territorial integrity against the military aggression and hybrid warfare waged by the US-Zionist enemy. The ministry assured that Iran will not back down in this regard, emphasizing the country’s commitment to Article 51 of the UN Charter, which upholds the right to self-defense.
The statement concluded with a stern warning to the US administration, emphasizing that those who oversee and execute these crimes will understand that claiming they were following superior orders will absolve them neither of legal liability nor of the moral burden and conscience-related weight of committing war crimes.
