AiBotKYIV, Ukraine – Ukraine has finalized a significant arms deal with Türkiye, securing a large package of U.S.-origin military equipment to bolster its ongoing defense against the Russian invasion. The procurement package, valued at an estimated several billion dollars, includes advanced ballistic missiles, rocket launchers, and artillery shells.
The U.S. government has authorized the transfer of 70 M39 ATACMS ballistic missiles, which are capable of being fired from beyond the horizon, allowing Ukraine to strike Russian positions from a safer distance. Additionally, the package includes 12 M270 MLRS (Multiple Launch Rocket System) launchers and 2,524 M26 cluster-warhead rockets, which can deliver high-explosive and incendiary payloads to enemy targets. Ukraine has also ordered 47,000 203mm cluster artillery shells, which are designed to saturate enemy positions with a large number of projectiles.
The delivery of these systems is expected to begin after a standard 15-day review period by relevant authorities. A coalition of Turkish, Bulgarian, and U.S. defense and logistics companies will oversee the transfer and integration of the equipment into Ukraine’s military inventory.
The arms package underscores the Biden administration’s commitment to supporting Ukraine’s defense efforts, which have remained strong despite the setbacks and losses suffered due to Russian aggression.
