Israeli Airstrike Hits Beirut Suburb, Wreaks Havoc on Al-Amana Station

BEIRUT, Lebanon – A devastating Israeli airstrike rocked the Lebanese capital late on Thursday, targeting the Al-Amana station in the Tahwitat al-Ghadir area of Dahieh, a south Beirut suburb. The attack has sent shockwaves across the city and left a trail of destruction in its wake.

According to eyewitnesses, the strike occurred just before midnight, with residents of the area reporting a massive explosion that sent debris flying into the night air. The impact of the blast was so severe that it was felt several kilometers away, causing widespread damage and panic.

“It was like nothing I’ve ever seen before,” said one witness, who wished to remain anonymous. “The explosion was so loud, and the ground shook beneath my feet. I saw people running through the streets, screaming and crying.”

The Al-Amana station is a major transportation hub in the Dahieh area, serving thousands of commuters each day. With its destruction comes a significant disruption to public transportation services, stranding many passengers in the area.

Lebanese officials have condemned the attack, with Prime Minister Najib Mikati stating that the airstrike “constitutes a flagrant aggression against Lebanon’s sovereignty and stability.” Mikati called for an emergency meeting of the Lebanese cabinet to discuss the implications of the attack and to consider its response.

The Israeli military has thus far remained silent on the issue, although earlier this week, the Israeli Defense Forces announced that it had launched an operation aimed at targeting Iranian-backed militant groups operating in Lebanon.

As the situation continues to unfold, international organizations and diplomats are urging restraint and de-escalation. The United Nations has issued a statement calling for calm and caution, while diplomats from across the region are engaging in urgent diplomatic efforts to prevent further conflict.

For now, the people of Beirut are left to pick up the pieces and cope with the aftermath of the devastating airstrike. As the city grapples with the consequences of the attack, residents are calling for an end to the violence and a return to a sense of normalcy.
