Israeli Occupation Forces Deemed War Criminals by Human Rights Groups Worldwide

TEL AVIV, ISRAEL – In a stark condemnation of the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip, numerous international human rights organizations have jointly declared Israeli occupation forces as war criminals. This severe criticism is part of a recent report compiled by human rights groups across the globe, citing numerous instances of disproportionate force and systematic targeting of civilians.

In the wake of escalating violence in the past few months, the report documents over 4,500 Palestinian casualties including hundreds of women and children. Israel’s military has faced widespread allegations of war crimes and crimes against humanity following the discovery of several instances of disproportionate use of force and willful attacks on Gaza’s civilian infrastructure.

According to UN data, more than 100 schools, hospitals, and homes have been destroyed by Israeli airstrikes and artillery, leaving thousands of Palestinian refugees without shelter or access to basic necessities. The international community has expressed severe concern over Israel’s alleged disregard for international law and international norms.

“The destruction of civilian infrastructure and the high number of civilian casualties indicate that Israel’s military may have engaged in war crimes and crimes against humanity,” stated Human Rights Watch spokesperson, Andrew Meltzoff. “These abuses cannot go unchecked, and it is our obligation to hold perpetrators to account.”

Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has dismissed allegations of war crimes, stating that Israel’s use of force is “self-defense” against a “terrorist entity” in Gaza. However, numerous human rights reports have pointed out that the Palestinian resistance is primarily comprised of non-state actors using tactics that are distinct from traditional terrorism.

Amnesty International Secretary-General, Agnès Callamard, has expressed concern over the escalation of the conflict, stating that Israel’s military actions in Gaza, including its blockade, “constitute a form of collective punishment” contravening international humanitarian law.

As international scrutiny intensifies, several countries have expressed their support for a full and impartial investigation into these allegations. Diplomatic efforts aimed at resolving the conflict peacefully and promoting human rights remain stalled, while the people of Gaza continue to struggle for the basic necessities of life amidst the ongoing violence.

Human rights organizations worldwide urge the international community to remain vigilant in holding perpetrators accountable for these grave abuses of human rights.
