Lapid Slams Netanyahu Over “Diplomatic Disaster”

Opposition Leader Yair Lapid has launched a scathing attack on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, describing his leadership as a strategic collapse and a diplomatic disaster. Lapid made the remarks during a speech in the Knesset, in which he accused Netanyahu of undermining Israel’s international standing and its ability to govern itself effectively.

Lapid stated that Netanyahu has led Israel into a state of “tutelage,” implying that the country is now dependent on external assistance and guidance. He claimed that Israel has been excluded from the negotiating table and decision-making processes that shape global events, resulting in a loss of influence and credibility on the international stage.

“This is not the Israel that I know,” Lapid said, emphasizing that the country was once a respected and influential player in regional and global affairs. “Today, Israel is like a state under tutelage, unable to govern itself, excluded from the negotiating table and decision-making.”

Lapid’s comments come as tensions between Israel and its allies, particularly the United States, have escalated in recent months. There have been concerns over Jerusalem’s plans to annex parts of the West Bank, as well as its handling of the conflict with Hamas in Gaza.

Netanyahu has faced criticism for his government’s policies, which some have described as divisive and provocative. His opponents have accused him of prioritizing the interests of his ultra-Orthodox allies over those of the broader Israeli public.

Lapid, who leads the Yesh Atid party, has emerged as one of Netanyahu’s most vocal critics within Israel’s parliament. He has been pushing for a change in government, arguing that Netanyahu’s leadership is damaging Israel’s reputation and threatening its security.

In his speech, Lapid called on Israelis to demand better from their government, saying that the country deserved a leadership that was capable of governing itself effectively and maintaining good relations with its international partners.

“This is not the Israel that we deserve,” Lapid said. “This is not the Israel that I want to leave for my children. We deserve a leader who can unite the country, who can take Israel from outside the negotiating table and bring us back to it as one of the leaders of the free world.”

Lapid’s comments are likely to fuel further debate over Netanyahu’s leadership and the direction of Israeli politics. As tensions continue to escalate, the opposition leader’s call for change is likely to resonate with many Israelis who are growing increasingly frustrated with the current state of affairs.
