BEIRUT, Lebanon – In a significant development in the ongoing conflict between Israeli and Lebanese forces, the Islamic Resistance (IR) issued a statement defending Lebanon and its people against an alleged attempted incursion by the Israeli enemy military. According to the statement, at approximately 12:30 on Monday, the IR fighters observed an Israeli military force advancing near the village of Deir Seryan, north of Khallat al-Raj, en route to Zawtar al-Sharqiya.
Upon the arrival of the Israeli force within range of an IR security position, the fighters opened fire using light and medium arms, achieving confirmed hits against the enemy. A fierce close-range clash ensued, with both parties exchanging fire. The IR claimed responsibility for the engagement, stating that its forces repelled the attempted incursion while inflicting losses on the enemy.
Following the initial confrontation, the Israeli forces reportedly deployed heavy fire support, including vehicles, to secure the withdrawal of their troops and attend to the wounded. The IR responded by targeting the evacuation force with artillery shells and appropriate rocket systems.
The statement also highlighted the intervention of the IR’s air defense units, which successfully prevented hostile helicopters from maneuvering near the incident area. As a result, the Israeli forces were forced to evacuate the wounded via land to the Misgav Am settlement, from which they were later airlifted into the interior of occupied Palestine.
The IR emphasized its commitment to defending Lebanon and its people against external threats, asserting that its military actions will continue to target any force attempting to undermine the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the country.
This recent clash underscores the ongoing tensions between Israeli forces and the Islamic Resistance, which has been actively engaged in anti-Israel operations in the region. While details of the conflict remain sketchy, the IR’s statement underscores the continued military confrontation between these two opposing forces in Lebanon.
Lebanese officials have yet to comment on the incident, but the IR’s assertion of responsibility and claims of inflicting losses on the enemy suggest that this latest confrontation is a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict. As the situation in Lebanon remains complex and volatile, this development serves as a poignant reminder of the fragile balance of power in the region.
