Severe Weather Warning Issued Across Northern and Central Israel, West Bank

A severe weather warning has been issued across seven regions in Northern and Central Israel and the West Bank, with early warning alerts in effect. Heavy rain, strong winds, and potential flash flooding are expected to disrupt daily life and cause significant travel concerns.

According to the Israel Meteorological Service (IMS), the storm system, which is moving northward from the Levant, is expected to bring heavy rainfall, with some areas potentially seeing up to 100mm of precipitation in the next 24 hours. This is expected to cause flash flooding in low-lying areas and disrupt drainage systems.

The seven regions under warning are Beit Shemesh, Drom Hashfela, HaShfela, Jerusalem, Lachish, Shomron, and Wadi Ara. Residents are advised to exercise caution and stay informed about the latest weather forecast.

“We urge citizens to take necessary precautions and stay indoors during the storm,” said a spokesperson for the Israel Ministry of Transport and Road Safety. “Heavy rain and strong winds can cause significant disruptions to travel and daily life, and we urge drivers to exercise extreme caution and consider alternative routes.”

The Israel Police have announced that they will be increasing their presence on the roads to assist with traffic management and help motorists in distress. Emergency services, including the Israel Fire and Rescue Services and the Israel Ambulance Service, are on high alert to respond to any emergencies that may arise.

In preparation for the storm, the Israel Electric Corporation has activated its emergency response plan, which includes deploying additional personnel and resources to areas prone to power outages. The corporation has also issued guidance to residents on how to safely navigate the storm and stay informed about power outages.

Residents are advised to follow the latest updates from the Israel Meteorological Service, as well as local authorities and emergency services, for the latest information on the storm and any instructions for action.

The storm is expected to pass through the region by tomorrow evening, with clearing skies expected by Thursday evening. However, residents are advised to remain vigilant and monitor the latest weather forecast in case conditions change.
