US Air Force Airlifter Disables Transponder Over Nasiriyah HEADLINE: US KC-135R Stratotanker Mysteriously Disables Flight Transponder Over Iraqi Skies

Nasiriyah, Iraq – On an unknown date, a US Air Force KC-135R Stratotanker was observed to disable its flight transponder while flying over Nasiriyah, Iraq. The incident has raised concerns over air traffic control and the implications of such an action in the densely operated Middle Eastern sky.

According to eyewitnesses and official sources, the KC-135R, a key asset within the US Air Force’s logistics and refueling capabilities, was spotted turning off its flight transponder by an anonymous observer, identified only as “CIG_telegram.” The exact reason for the action is unknown.

“This action could have posed a significant threat to air traffic control as the KC-135R may have become an invisible object on air traffic control radar,” said a local air traffic control spokesperson. “Fortunately, no incident has been reported and air traffic has proceeded normally.”

This incident also raises questions over the US military’s standard operating procedures (SOPs) in regards to the use and management of flight transponders and their implications in the global air traffic system.

As investigations into the incident continue, the US Air Force and relevant authorities have issued no official statements regarding the incident and the identity of the person who reported the occurrence remains anonymous.
