Delhi, India – In a series of unfortunate events, a resident of the eastern part of Delhi is now facing the financial burden of a damaged vehicle following a failed burnout attempt, which ultimately led to the vehicle’s fire.
On the evening of March 24, Rohan Singh, a 32-year-old software engineer by profession, decided to demonstrate his car’s capabilities in a deserted area, away from the public eye. Witnesses claim Singh deliberately sped his vehicle at an excessively high speed, losing control as flames erupted from under his vehicle.
Eyewitnesses stated, ‘At around 7:30 pm, we heard a loud screeching noise coming from the direction of Rohan’s car. The vehicle’s tires appeared to be spinning rapidly, and a large cloud of smoke started surrounding it. We quickly realized that the vehicle was engulfed in flames.’
Singh was left stranded and uninjured, however, his 2022 Ford Figo sedan sustained significant damage, estimated at over 100,000 rupees (approximately $1,440 USD). Local authorities reported that he received some assistance from passing by individuals but chose not to summon the emergency services immediately.
“I was just testing my car’s capabilities,” Singh said in an interview. “I’d done this many times before without any issues, but this time, my vehicle caught fire. I lost all my control, and before I could react, my car was engulfed in flames.”
Singh is now in dire straits and is struggling to come up with the funds to repair the damages or purchase a new vehicle. “To be honest with you, I had always wanted to buy a new car, but I just got it last year,” he explained. “Now, with a burnt out vehicle and no financial security net, the odds of buying a new car seem bleak at the moment.”
Rohan Singh’s mishap serves as a cautionary tale for the dangers and risks associated with reckless vehicle stunts and excessive speeds. Authorities have warned motorists against engaging in these behaviors, emphasizing the dangers of losing control and the risks of vehicle fires.
The case is currently under investigation by the Delhi Police, and they have issued a warning to drivers to adhere to road safety and adhere to all posted speed limits.
