ALL CLEAR IN BAHRAIN AS POWER OUTAGE ENDS

Manama, Bahrain – A sudden and widespread power outage that struck Bahrain on Tuesday evening has been resolved, with all major areas of the island nation now reported to be back online.

Government officials confirmed the restoration of power to major utilities and critical infrastructure, stating that the outage was caused by an “unforeseen” technical issue affecting the kingdom’s main power grid. Initial reports suggested the power cut, which affected thousands of residents and businesses, began around 6:30 PM local time.

According to eyewitnesses, the power outage was most severe in residential areas, leading to widespread disruptions in food and water supplies, as well as communication services. Mobile networks were also reported to be affected, with some residents noting the difficulties they faced in contacting emergency services.

Government officials and emergency responders have worked through the night, with a multi-agency task force deployed to rapidly restore power to affected areas. Bahrain’s Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) reported its engineers, aided by international experts, had successfully isolated and rectified the malfunction.

While several areas are still awaiting power restoration, officials say that the situation is under control, with an estimated 80% of households now having their electricity reconnected. Food and water supply disruptions are said to be nearing resolution as well, with emergency supplies being distributed to residents in the affected areas.

The power outage also brought to light concerns over Bahrain’s energy security measures. Government officials are set to review and update existing plans to ensure such a major disruption does not happen in the future. An investigation into the causes of the outage will be conducted to identify potential weak points in the power grid.

Prime Minister, Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, assured residents that his administration will take any necessary measures to prevent similar outages in the future, adding that the government will also investigate the extent of the disruption and implement the necessary measures to mitigate any impact.

Resident’s reaction has been positive towards the quick response from the authorities and emergency responders. While they have expressed their gratitude to emergency responders, they also stressed a need for improved maintenance schedules to prevent such situations in the future.

As the kingdom works to return to normal, residents and business owners alike have cautiously welcomed the easing of tensions, acknowledging that while the power outage has caused significant disruption, it was ultimately a swift and effective response by authorities that has minimized damage.
