Government officials confirmed the restoration of power to major utilities and critical infrastructure, stating that the outage was caused by an “unforeseen” technical issue affecting the kingdom’s main power grid. Initial reports suggested the power cut, which affected thousands of residents and businesses, began around 6:30 PM local time.
According to eyewitnesses, the power outage was most severe in residential areas, leading to widespread disruptions in food and water supplies, as well as communication services.
