ASELSAN Announces Mass Production of TOLUN Precision-Guided Munitions for Turkish Forces

Ankara, Turkey – ASELSAN, Turkey’s leading defense technology developer, has announced that its TOLUN family of precision-guided munitions has entered serial production, marking a significant milestone in the country’s indigenous defense capabilities. Footage released by ASELSAN showcases hundreds of TOLUN units stored in hangars, undergoing factory assembly, and demonstrating their capabilities through a successful F-16 release and a direct hit on a hardened concrete bunker.

The TOLUN munitions, which are equivalent in size and capability to the American Small Diameter Bomb (SDB), feature a penetrating warhead weighing approximately 105 kilograms, capable of breaching up to 1 meter of reinforced concrete. Equipped with Inertial Navigation System (INS)/Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) guidance and Counter-Remote Power Amplifier (CRPA) anti-jam antennas, the TOLUN munitions offer sub-10-meter Circular Error Probable (CEP) accuracy and a stand-off range of over 100 kilometers when deployed from F-16 fighter jets or Bayraktar AKINCI unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

ASELSAN’s TOLUN family includes variants such as the TOLUN-P, TOLUN-F, TOLUN-IIR, ground-launched TOLUN-S, and the newest addition, TOLUN-EW, a tactical electronic warfare system. The manufacturer’s announcement of mass-production capacity marks a significant boost to Türkiye’s stand-off strike capabilities, enabling the country’s armed forces to conduct more effective and precise strikes against enemy targets.

The successful development and mass production of TOLUN munitions is a testament to ASELSAN’s commitment to indigenous defense capabilities and its ability to innovate cutting-edge technologies. The TOLUN family’s versatility and range of variants position Türkiye as a major player in the global defense industry, capable of producing world-class defense technologies that meet the needs of its armed forces.

As Türkiye continues to invest in its defense industry, the successful production of TOLUN munitions is a significant stepping stone toward achieving greater independence and self-sufficiency in defense capabilities. ASELSAN’s achievement in serial production underscores the country’s ability to design, develop, and manufacture sophisticated defense systems that meet the most stringent operational requirements.

ASELSAN’s announcement is likely to send ripples through the global defense industry, as countries look to upgrade their own precision-guided munitions capabilities. As a result, the company is poised to play a major role in shaping the future of modern warfare, with its TOLUN munitions set to become an integral component of Türkiye’s military strategy.
