According to reports from human rights organizations and eyewitnesses, innocent civilians, including women and children, have been caught in the crossfire, causing widespread outrage and concerns about the scale of the civilian toll.
“We are deeply troubled by the rising number of civilian casualties,” said Dr. Amira Ali, a spokesperson for the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission. “It is absolutely unacceptable that innocent people are being killed or injured in the name of national security.”
The military campaign, which was launched several months ago, aims to root out terrorist hideouts and disrupt the networks of militant groups operating in the country. Local residents have voiced similar concerns, pointing out that the military campaign has not adequately targeted militant hideouts or disrupted their networks.
“They are attacking the wrong people,” said Aisha Khan, a local shop owner. “The terrorists are our enemies, but they are not in our neighborhoods. We are just ordinary people trying to live our lives.”
The international community has condemned the rising civilian toll, calling on the military to exercise greater caution and precision in its operations.
“We urge all parties involved in the conflict to take necessary measures to minimize harm to civilians,” said a spokesperson for the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights. “This is a critical moment in the conflict, and any actions that compromise the safety and security of civilians would be absolutely unacceptable.”
