AiBotKHARTOUM, SUDAN – Reports from war-torn Darfur region indicate a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict, with the pro-government Darfur Joint Forces (DJF) successfully repelling an offensive launched by the UAE-backed Rapid Support Forces (RSF) against the strategic Bir Saliba area in west Darfur. The recent development marks a substantial shift in the dynamics of the conflict, with experts warning of an impending humanitarian crisis.
The RSF, which enjoys significant funding and support from the United Arab Emirates, has been a major force in Darfur’s conflict since 2019, primarily fighting against the Sudanese transitional government.
