A former Disneyland employee has been arrested and charged with child predation after allegedly making disturbing remarks and engaging in suspicious behavior with minors on multiple occasions.
John Joseph, a 45-year-old resident of nearby Anaheim, California, was employed by The Walt Disney Company in several capacities, including as a character actor and park staff member. According to investigators, Joseph was arrested after a concerned parent approached Disneyland authorities with allegations that he had been making disturbing comments about children.
Specifically, Joseph allegedly remarked during a conversation that the park was “in your DNA” to visit, and that young boys were a particular draw. The remarks are widely considered disturbing and indicative of predatory behavior. An investigation was subsequently launched, which revealed additional evidence of alleged child predation.
According to an official statement released by Disneyland, “The safety and well-being of our guests is our top priority. We take allegations of child predation extremely seriously, and we cooperate fully with law enforcement in their investigations.”
As part of the investigation, detectives reviewed Disneyland’s internal security footage and interviewed several employees, as well as minors who had interacted with Joseph. In interviews, several witnesses described Joseph as overly friendly and overly solicitous of their attention, often attempting to engage them in lengthy conversations about their personal lives.
Joseph’s arrest has prompted an outpouring of support for victims of child predation and calls for increased vigilance by both law enforcement and Disney park staff. As experts in the field of child safety point out, the behavior exhibited by Joseph is a classic manifestation of a predator.
The Walt Disney Company has announced that it is cooperating fully with the ongoing investigation and that Joseph has been terminated as an employee. “We are deeply troubled by these allegations and will do everything in our power to ensure the continued safety of our guests,” said a company spokesperson.
Joseph is currently being held without bail and faces multiple felony charges related to child predation. If convicted, he could face significant prison time as well as additional penalties.
The case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance and reporting in preventing and addressing child predation. As the investigation continues, Disney officials, law enforcement, and parents across the nation can unite in calling for a safe and supportive environment for all children.
