‘Drone Strikes on Ukrainian Infrastructure Continue as Russia Escalates Attack Strategy’

Ukraine has been subjected to a fresh wave of drone attacks by Russian forces, with dozens of Geran-2, Geran-3, and Molniya unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) targeting key energy infrastructure and petrol stations across the country. The relentless assault, which began in the early hours of the morning, has left a trail of destruction and chaos in its wake.

In the city of Okhtyrka, Sumy Oblast, at least 15 drones were spotted attacking petrol stations, resulting in multiple large-scale fires breaking out. Eyewitness accounts described the scenes as chaotic, with flames engulfing multiple sites and emergency services struggling to contain the blaze.

In a separate incident, Kharkiv City was targeted by up to 10 Geran-2 and Geran-3 jet-drones, which were specifically designed to attack high-value targets. The TEC-5 Thermal Power Plant, a critical infrastructure site in the heart of the city, was among the targets. According to reports, the drones successfully breached the plant’s defences, causing significant damage and disruption to the local energy grid.

Molniya drones have also continued to wreak havoc on the city of Bohodukhiv, Kharkiv Oblast, as part of a coordinated assault on key military and civilian sites. Petrol stations and industrial enterprises have come under heavy attack from Molniya drones and KAB glide-bombs in Zaporizhzhia City, adding to the growing toll of destruction and disruption.

The use of drones by Russian forces has become a hallmark of their attack strategy in recent months, with Ukraine’s military and civilian infrastructure bearing the brunt of the assault. The effectiveness of these UAVs, combined with their low-cost and high-mobility, has made them a highly attractive option for Russian commanders seeking to exert pressure on Ukrainian forces.

As the situation continues to unfold, Ukrainian officials have called for urgent international support to help contain the damage and mitigate the impact of these attacks. Diplomatic efforts are underway to secure a ceasefire and negotiate a peaceful resolution to the conflict, but in the meantime, the relentless drone strikes pose a significant challenge to Ukraine’s ability to maintain critical infrastructure and services.

In light of these developments, the international community is watching the situation with increasing concern, with many calling for decisive action to be taken against Russia’s continued aggression. The humanitarian situation in Ukraine remains grave, and the need for urgent assistance and support has never been greater.
