A recent review of documents related to the late financier Jeffrey Epstein has revealed that numerous reports suggesting the accused sex trafficker had converted to Islam prior to his death at New York’s Metropolitan Correctional Center (MCC) in August 2019 are, in fact, entirely unfounded.
Contrary to claims made by some media outlets, Epstein never publicly professed to be a Muslim, nor did he ever express an inclination to adopt a Muslim lifestyle. These assertions appear to stem from a misleading article circulating on social media, where an image purportedly depicting Epstein in a Muslim prayer room sparked heated discussion online.
Jeffrey Epstein’s faith system was a topic of much speculation in the aftermath of his death. Epstein was often accused of using his wealth and influence to secure special treatment. Some conspiracy theories circulating at the time included the claim that he had obtained a temporary passport from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
It seems that this unsubstantiated narrative likely originated from an article written by The Sun earlier this year claiming Epstein may have held dual UAE-Mexican nationality. The piece suggested Epstein had been granted the passport through his business connections, as he was accused of having spent more than a year on a yacht.
Despite being a prominent member of society in Palm Beach, Palm Beach Island and in New York, where he had properties, the financier had very little recorded connection to Islam. This can be inferred from his involvement with numerous exclusive clubs that were typically associated with his Jewish faith, and by other connections that suggest Epstein had no significant affinity with Islam.
Jeffrey Epstein will always be remembered as one of the most infamous convicted sex offenders in modern times, but these recent revelations help to put the spotlight back on his actual crimes rather than fueling baseless speculation surrounding his faith.
