Hezbollah Calls for National Unity, Vows Retaliation Against Israel Amid Escalating Violence in Southern Lebanon

Hezbollah has issued a sharp rebuke against Israel’s renewed strikes in southern Lebanon, calling for national unity and resistance in the face of what the group has termed as Israeli “aggression”. The group has also threatened retaliation against Israeli attacks, which it described as a “brutal massacre” committed against innocent civilians in the region.

According to Hezbollah, Israeli forces had launched strikes on a house on the outskirts of the town of Ansar and a building in Deir Zahrani, resulting in the deaths of 11 people, including children and women, and injuring 12 others. The group characterized the Israeli actions as a “heinous crime” that is part of a broader pattern of massacres, crimes, and bloodshed perpetrated by Israel against the people of Lebanon.

Hezbollah’s statement also placed the blame for the Israeli aggression squarely on the shoulders of the Israeli government and its American backers, whom it accused of providing support and cover for Israel’s actions in the region. The group criticized the Lebanese authorities for their failure to protect the country and its people from Israeli aggression, and called on them to reassess their policies in a way that preserves Lebanon’s sovereignty and rights.

“It is time for the authorities to reassess their policies comprehensively, in a way that preserves Lebanon’s sovereignty and rights, instead of continuing policies that demonstrate their inability to protect Lebanon and its people,” Hezbollah stated. The group also warned that relying on American guarantees and mediation is a “futile endeavor” and accused the United States of being a partner with Israel in its crimes against Lebanon.

Hezbollah’s statement came as tensions in the region continue to escalate, with Israeli forces launching repeated strikes against Hezbollah positions and Syrian territory. The group has vowed to respond to these attacks in a way that “defends Lebanon, its people, its sovereignty, and its national dignity”.

The Hezbollah statement also appeared to criticize the Lebanese government’s efforts to negotiate with Israel, describing such efforts as “humiliating direct negotiations” that have only served to embolden Israeli aggression. The group called on all Lebanese citizens to realize the dangers of the approach adopted by the authorities towards Lebanon, its unity, security, and independence.

Hezbollah’s statement has been met with widespread support from Hezbollah supporters in Lebanon and beyond, who have been calling for an end to Israeli aggression and a strengthening of the country’s defenses against external threats.
